Fish vendor held with illegal firearm
Detectives assigned to the St James Police Division have charged 33-year-old Samarah Forrester, otherwise called 'Toots', a fish vendor of Railway Lane, Montego Bay, with unauthorised possession of ammunition and dealing in prohibited weapon following an incident in Dome Lane, on Sunday.
Reports from the Barnett Street Criminal Investigation Branch are that at 7:30 p.m., police personnel acting on intelligence were conducting an operation at the location when Forrester's vehicle was stopped and searched. The search yielded 25 .40 9mm cartridges and a large quantity of Jamaican and American bank notes. Forrester was unable to properly account for any of the cash.
Forrester was arrested and was charged following a question-and-answer session in the presence of her attorney on Tuesday. A court date for her is being arranged.
